The Vintage Glider Club
We are a truly international organisation with members worldwide
The club was formed as a result of the very first International Vintage Glider Rally at Husbands Bosworth, UK in 1973 to encourage the continued preservation and flying of gliders from the past.
Membership is open to anybody who has an interest in the preservation, researching and flying vintage, old timer and classic gliders and associated artefacts.
A series of Rallies are organised each year in various countries where members are able to get together to share their passion for the preservation and flying of vintage gliders.
Members receive the club magazine VGC News which is lavishly illustrated and packed with the latest news, rally reports and articles three times a year.
You don’t need to own a vintage glider to become a member.

Announcing the Vintage Glider Club’s 50th Anniversary Book
‘On Wooden Wings’ Compiled by Andrew Jarvis
In 1973, Chris Wills took decisive action to save historic gliders from total neglect and destruction, and so our great Club was founded. ‘On Wooden Wings’ celebrates 50 happy years of flight, restorations, travel, and above all, companionship. With contributions from past and present, written by dozens of great VGC members. Some very special gliders are included, such as the Vampyr, Orlik, Penrose Pegasus, Kosava and Hutter 28 – to name but a few. Innumerable great photos, and many original drawings by artist Tim O’Brien. The book takes us right up to the memorable 2022 International events at Ferrara and Celje. The content is aimed at newcomers to our hobby, as much as to the ’old hands’, and the aeromodellers are certainly not forgotten. There are 172 pages, in A4 landscape format, softback.
